Although Oregon's Senator Gordon Smith announced a few weeks ago that he would be supporting Fristianity by helping the Senate go nuclear, word has it that he's not so hip to the option. Is there hope? A lot of us are sure hoping so, and in an attempt to help Smith see the light, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, Sierra Club and other groups have organized a filibuster event on Tuesday in Portland in front of Gordon Smith's office on 2nd and Salmon. Lots o' people will be filibustering with speeches about anything and everything. Yours truly will be filibustering from 1:45 to 2:00 on the perils of teaching Intelligent Design in the science classrooms of America.
The filibuster event will begin at 11am and run until about 5pm. For more info on the event and if you are interested in speaking, click the above "filibuster event" link.
Sid: If I was in Portland, I'd be there for sure. Hope you had a good turnout and a few umbrellas! Give us a report when you can...
